Secaucus, NJ Facility Update

The Secaucus Facility is currently closed for professional cleaning and disinfecting of the building.

We are amending the reopen date for the facility to Monday, March 30th. We will do everything we can to quickly and efficiently work through any backlog.

Upon re-opening the facility, we will continue to follow guidelines from the CDC regarding social distancing and hygiene and will continue with our enhanced cleaning activities.

In addition, we will be taking temperatures of all employees at the start of each shift to help ensure a safe workplace for our team.

We will continue to update customers impacted by this closure on the very fluid situation in New Jersey as local health officials and the state government evaluate restrictions. Please see information below regarding the cleaning of the facility.

Whiplash Secaucus – Cleaning Q&A

Below are common questions and answers regarding the professional cleaning and disinfecting process:

Q. What cleaning company will be used to facilitate the sanitation?

A: CityWide General Cleaning & Maintenance. We are contracting them specifically for their Coronavirus (COVID-19) Immediate Response service. Below are links to the cleaning solutions they will be using:

Q. What is the protocol around the cleaning process? Will they keep sealed packages sealed and clean the outside only?  How will open boxes be handled? 

A: Our cleaning protocol is designed to clean all surfaces contacted by our employees, including the following:

  • Offices – work stations, tables, chairs and phone handsets; door touch points, push bars.
  • Railings
  • Restrooms – restroom fixtures and stall door handles – in both offices and warehouse
  • Warehouse workstations – open flat surfaces
  • Warehouse breakrooms/cafeterias – counters, microwave touchpoints, tables and chairs
  • Warehouse material handlers – touch points around operator stations
  • Manual pallet jack handles
  • Robotics
  • Empty Rolling racks will be sprayed down only with disinfecting chemical and not manually wiped.
  • Rolling stairs – railing touch points
  • Operational bay doors will be sprayed down only with disinfecting chemical and not manually wiped.
  • Conveyor Belts

We will not clean sealed or opened boxes or individual products. Current guidance is that COVID-19 is viable on cardboard for no more than 24 hours and on hard surfaces for no more than 72 hours.

Q. Will Whiplash require current staff to self-quarantine as per CDC guidelines and if so, how will you staff the facility after the cleaning?

A: Currently none of our associates in the Secaucus facility have tested positive for the coronavirus; we are awaiting the test results. In the event of a positive test, we will follow CDC quarantine protocol and use staff from other Whiplash facilities. The Clifton, NJ facility for YOOX/Net-a-Porter closed this week due to a sourcing issue from their Italian parent company, so we have ample staff available.

Q. Will Whiplash be taking the temperature of employees before allowing them to re-enter facilities going forward? (as per CDC guidelines)

A: Yes
