Damaged inventory has been a black box: Items are given a DEFECTIVE label and stored by the facility in off-the-books locations. Some customers have used SKUs ending in “-DMG” as a workaround, but it’s a brittle system that doesn’t allow much flexibility.
Now, we have the infrastructure to support marking Items as Damaged during receiving for Returns and Ship Notices. Items are put away like normal, but the Location Role is set to “Damaged” meaning only damaged items can be stored there.
